Successful tests of LiberCat with RED OS expand the scope of Russian developments in the creation of large-scale information solutions for government institutions.
RED SOFT and BellSoft specialists conducted tests that confirmed the compatibility and correctness of the LiberCat software run under the RED operating system. The results are recorded in a bilateral certificate. This allows us to recommend the joint use of the operating system RED OS with a Java application server LiberCat for digital sovereignty tasks.
Developers have expanded the stack of compatible core technologies for building modern enterprise solutions. Previously, the companies confirmed the compatibility of Liberica JDK, BellSoft's advanced Java runtime environment, with the RED OS and Red Database DBMS.
RED OS is a Russian Linux family operating system for servers and workstations, that provides a universal environment for application software. The product is certified by the FSTEC of Russia (№4060 of 12.01.2019), that confirms its compliance with information security requirements and allows its use in government information systems. RED OS is registered in the Unified Register of Russian Software and Databases of the Ministry of Communications of Russia (No.3751).
The LiberCat application server is based on open source Apache Tomcat, one of the most popular application servers with over 60%* market share, and is designed to work with a number of Java EE technologies. LiberCat offers world-class open source technology with Russian technical support by BellSoft, one of the leaders in OpenJDK. This allows customers to continue to use their existing Java infrastructure and employ best practices and modern microservices architecture to address new issues. LiberCat is bundled with the Liberica JDK and is available as a webserver and application server. In comparable tasks, it is a feasible product to migrate from WebLogic and WebSphere. LiberCat's compliance with Java standards ensures portability of the solutions between application servers.
"Import-independent digitalization is one of the national priorities. RED SOFT in cooperation with its partners as active players on the Russian IT market is ready to provide high-quality and safe equivalents of foreign software products for various tasks. The compatibility of RED OS with the LiberCat Java Application Server confirms the wide functionality of our operating system", Rustam Rustamov, Deputy RED SOFT CEO, commented.
"We are pleased to expand our partnership with RED SOFT on the technology stack to develop advanced enterprise solutions that address the digital sovereignty challenges. Our strategy is to develop partnerships with developers of core technologies, applications and system integrators. We work to support all common platforms, invest in testing and systematically expand the capabilities of our professional products Liberica JDK and LiberCat. This gives the developers and Java-application users a confidence that they will get the high-quality, competence and technical support necessary to solve current and prospective tasks in accordance with technological trends and national requirements", - Alexander Belokrylov, BellSoft CEO, notes.
